ID-Portal is a portal and web application framework that is built on the scalable J2EE platform, and is fully compliant to the JSR-168 specifications. ID-Portal is based on the Liferay portal framework, with a lot of enhancement, bug fixes, customization and extensions from IDSignet.
The major goal of ID-Portal is to provide a secure framework that is easy to develop web applications for, and is easy to use and manage. ID-Portal makes building dynamic and static pages so much easy. You can just design your page layout as you would like, using a WYSIWYG layout manager, and drag and drop portlet directly into the page. You can easily reconfigure your page layout, site structure, theme, etc, without having to shutdown and restart.
As a web development platform, ID-Portal's main goal is to lead the web assembly model, allowing software developers to assemble web applications with re-usable components, the portlets. Portlets can be development by different developers, and then assembled into sophisticated web application by using the powerful Inter-Portlet Communication (IPC) framework in ID-Portal.
ID-Portal is also seamlessly integrated with ID-SSO, making it Liberty-enabled out of the box.
ID-Portal also comes with optional portlet modules, making it a default web-based secure groupware and e-business systems. See the list of portlets provided by IDSignet for more information.
